Three poems by (Dr.) Olalere Oladitan

Witch to the Neighbour’s Child

Under the home roof :
rascals
brigands
ruining honour
name
and legacies ancestral

The child next door :
sharp
bright
bringing succour
and joy
to father
to mother
generations unborn

“Ah !
Is not that someone’s child !”

Envious laments
grief and jealous wrath

on another’s child
called forth by one’s own child

at the passage of one
the envy of another

Unnatural swapping contemplated:
the dead for the live?
and the live for the dead?

or smother them both?

Losses from Knowledge

knowledge
of defeat sure and certain
truly removes
the pain of the pinch
were the flop unsuspected

also
knowledge
of victory sure and certain
truly removes
the joy of the pleasantness
were the wins un-awaited

yet
surprise
and
fore-knowledge

must merge
one day
one way

but
for what?
To what end?

Sharing Beyond and Above Reason and Runs

I suck you
beyond real fears
of mouth sores
akokoro
AIDS
cancer from breasts
or even more

I run my face
on yours
despite present scare
and real threats
of pimples
and ring worm
or leprosy, even

This spirit
resides
beyond and above
the physique
seeking to lurch
and lodge
within

Sharing all
Assuming all
even unto death!

To the winds,
reason !
To really live
or even die!
smiling
at least for once
in life!

… even if
no returns come
of the risks

the second party
ever farting
fuming
and foaming

forever parting
in stormy hails
and rash runs
of blood voice
and tempers…

rash runs …
of blood …
voice … and …
tempers !!!

Ha ! Ha !!
